Not found DICOM Images in...

Post by ercolino » Sat Mar 14, 2015 3:42 pm

Hi

I am new to DICOM handling and to this forum.

I am trying to visualize DICOM images from an Agfa CR digitizer. When I put these files in the DICOMDIR folder I get the message "Not found DICOM Images in..". These files use a .v2 extension. The procedure works smoothly with the test images from the MicroDicom site.

I was able to read the images with Mathworks MATLAB and print the info header of the files, which I copy at the end of this post. Note that there is a warning message at the end of the file reading process: "Suspicious fragmentary file, might not be DICOM".

Is there anything wrong with this file? Will MicroDicom be able to read it? Is there any kind of conversion that can be used to make the files readable?

Thanks in advanced.
Joe Ercolino

Can you send me the file to support@microdicom.com?

Hi Simeon.

I am still interested in trying to make microDicom work with my files. I would like to update you with my recent findings hopefully helping you to find a solution. I've found that all my files can be read by microdicom 0.89 if I open one file at a time via the "Open..." icon or menu, but this can be cumbersome when analyzing a long series of images, specially if the file names are extremely long an clueless, as is my case. That is why I need the option to load a series of images by placing them in the DICOMDIR folder or via the "scan for DICOM files..." icon or menu. Unfortunately, microdicom does not recognize any of my images when I try these options.

Thanks for your patience and help.

Best regards.

Thanks for reporting this issue. We know about that. We make a fix after version 0.8.8 to improve scanning of DICOM files. And we scan for DICOM files that are implemented with official DICOM file format and we stop to search for DICOM files that are implemented an old, inofficial (pre-1995) DICOM file format. This is only for searching DICOM files, but MicroDicom open them.
We will fix this problem and will return scanning of DICOM files with old file format. But it will be available in next version.
You can download older version of MicroDicom 0.8.7 from our website: http://www.microdicom.com/downloads-old-versions.html
I think you have not to have problem to scan your files. Please try and write me a e-mail to tell me if you have a problem.

Thanks for your reply. I've just tried microdicom 0.87, as you suggested, and this solved the problem. I'll be looking forward for the next version.

Best regards.

Hi Waleed, I got the same warning. What does it mean?
